So....a new Halloween tradition has begun at the McSwain house! It all started when I told Ryan I wanted to carve a pumpkin with Madison Claire this year. We went to Kroger and of course spent entirely too long trying to pick out the perfect pumpkin. We finally chose one and got it all cleaned up when we got home. I wanted some pictures of Madison with it so we started on the deck but weren't really thrilled with the background so moved out to the front yard. The sun was right in Madison's face so we decided to go down the side of the house where there was some shade on the yard. If you know anything about our house, you know that our side yard has a pretty significant slope. Ryan was carrying Madison Claire, I had the video camera in one hand and the pumpkin in the other. Well....I dropped the perfect pumpkin and it went rolling down the yard. Ryan tried to stop it but kind of tripped and fell forward onto his knees causing Madison Claire to bump up against his head. She started crying so he was scared he hurt her and we heard a "boom boom boom boom" which was the pumpkin rolling ALL THE WAY down the hill in our backyard. Ryan went walking through the forrest trying to find it but it was a futile attempt and he came back empty handed after about 15 minutes!
Needless to say, I went out to Kroger to get another pumpkin for us! We decided that we would have a new tradition and let Madison Claire roll a pumpkin down the yard and down the hill every Halloween to remember our first one as a family!
Here are a few pics I was able to get before we lost the perfect pumpkin!
